LinkedIn Outreach Benchmarks for Insurance (2026)
Key Takeaways
In the insurance industry, the average LinkedIn connection acceptance rate is 28.1%. Replies to the connection note average 2.4%, and replies to a message after the connection is accepted average 8.8%. Those numbers come from 93,274 connection requests sent by 119 insurance accounts between May 2025 and April 2026. All three sit below the cross-industry averages of 28.5%, 3.0% and 10.4%.
Insurance vs. the platform average
| Metric | Insurance | All industries | Difference | Rank |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Connection acceptance | 28.1% | 28.5% | -0.4 pts | 19th of 38 |
| Connection-note reply | 2.4% | 3.0% | -0.6 pts | 27th of 38 |
| Message reply after acceptance | 8.8% | 10.4% | -1.6 pts | 33rd of 38 |
Across the 38 industries with at least 50 sending accounts, acceptance runs from 21.8% (telecommunications) to 36.5% (staffing & recruiting). Note replies run from 1.8% to 6.6%, and message replies from 7.2% to 18.9%.
What the numbers say about insurance outreach
Insurance has an ordinary door and one of the weaker conversations in the dataset. Acceptance of 28.1% ranks 19th of 38 and sits within half a point of the cross-industry average. Message replies of 8.8% rank 33rd, 1.6 points below the platform figure. Note replies of 2.4% rank 27th.
That is the reverse of construction, which is below average at the connection request and above it afterwards. Insurance gets people through the door at a normal rate and then loses them at a rate few sectors match. End to end it converts at about 2.5 per 100 recipients, against roughly 3.0 across all industries.
Across 119 accounts and 93,274 requests, the practical reading is that acceptance is not the problem to solve here. An insurance account hitting the sector average on acceptance and the platform average on message replies would convert about 20% better than the sector does, without touching its targeting at all.
If your numbers sit below these
The dataset says where an account sits, not why. From what we see in campaigns, three gaps come up most often in this sector, and they point at different problems.
Message replies under 8.8%. The sector line is already 33rd of 38, so a number below it is very low. This is where insurance loses, and it is the only measure on this page where a real gain is available.
Acceptance under 28.1%. The sector is ordinary here, matching the platform closely, so a shortfall has no sector explanation behind it and points at the list.
Note replies under 2.4%. Below platform already. Since the sector’s problem is concentrated after acceptance, effort spent on the note is effort spent on the part that is not broken.

Frequently asked questions
What is a good LinkedIn acceptance rate in insurance?
28.1% is the sector average, within half a point of the 28.5% cross-industry figure, ranking 19th of 38 reported industries. Acceptance is the measure where insurance is unremarkable.
Why are reply rates low in insurance?
Insurance averages 8.8% message replies against a platform average of 10.4%, ranking 33rd of 38, while its acceptance rate is close to average. The weakness sits entirely after the connection is accepted. This dataset shows the pattern across 119 accounts without explaining it.
How does insurance compare with other industries?
Acceptance ranks 19th of 38, note replies 27th and message replies 33rd. End to end about 2.5 in 100 recipients reply to a follow-up, against roughly 3.0 across all industries.
How this data was collected
Insurance is reported from 119 accounts and 93,274 connection requests sent between May 2025 and April 2026, drawn from the LinkedIn Outreach Benchmarks 2026 dataset of 13.2 million requests across 13,302 accounts. That report carries the full methodology, along with the breakdowns by sender seniority, company size and month that are not repeated here.
Two things to hold in mind while reading any of these figures. The industry is the sender’s, taken from their company profile, not the recipient’s. And only industries with at least 50 sending accounts are reported at all: below that, a single unusual account moves the average by several points, which is why some of the most extreme numbers in the full appendix are not published here.
