Key Takeaways

For hospitals and healthcare, the average LinkedIn connection acceptance rate is 27.7%. Replies to the connection note average 3.4%, and replies to a message after the connection is accepted average 10.6%. Those numbers come from 135,687 connection requests sent by 159 hospital and health care accounts between May 2025 and April 2026. Against the cross-industry averages of 28.5%, 3.0% and 10.4%, hospital and health care is above on note replies and message replies and below on acceptance.

Hospital & Health Care vs. the platform average

MetricHospital & Health CareAll industriesDifferenceRank

Connection-note reply3.4%3.0%+0.4 pts7th of 38
Message reply after acceptance10.6%10.4%+0.2 pts20th of 38

Across the 38 industries with at least 50 sending accounts, acceptance runs from 21.8% (telecommunications) to 36.5% (staffing & recruiting). Note replies run from 1.8% to 6.6%, and message replies from 7.2% to 18.9%.

What the numbers say about healthcare outreach

Healthcare answers connection notes at well above the platform rate and is otherwise ordinary. Note replies of 3.4% rank 7th of 38, against a cross-industry average of 3.0%. Acceptance of 27.7% ranks 21st and message replies of 10.6% rank 20th, both within a point of the platform figures.

That single strength is worth naming precisely, because it is easy to overstate. Ranking 7th on notes across 159 accounts and 135,687 requests is a real result. It does not carry through: end to end the sector converts at about 2.9 per 100 recipients, marginally below the cross-industry 3.0. The note earns attention that the rest of the sequence does not keep.

The sectors healthcare most resembles on these numbers are management consulting and IT services, which is not obvious from the outside. All three accept at slightly below average, answer notes at slightly above, and converse at close to platform rates.

If your numbers sit below these

The dataset says where an account sits, not why. From what we see in campaigns, three gaps come up most often in this sector, and they point at different problems.

Note replies under 3.4%. This is the sector’s one advantage and it ranks 7th of 38. Falling below the line means an audience that is unusually willing to answer is not answering you.

Message replies under 10.6%. The sector is ordinary here, so there is no audience effect to point at. This is normally where a healthcare sequence loses the ground its note gained.

Acceptance under 27.7%. Slightly below platform to begin with. Healthcare job titles span clinical and administrative roles that behave very differently, and a list that mixes them tends to underperform both.

How this data was collected

Hospital & Health Care is reported from 159 accounts and 135,687 connection requests sent between May 2025 and April 2026, drawn from the LinkedIn Outreach Benchmarks 2026 dataset of 13.2 million requests across 13,302 accounts. That report carries the full methodology, along with the breakdowns by sender seniority, company size and month that are not repeated here.

Two things to hold in mind while reading any of these figures. The industry is the sender’s, taken from their company profile, not the recipient’s. And only industries with at least 50 sending accounts are reported at all: below that, a single unusual account moves the average by several points, which is why some of the most extreme numbers in the full appendix are not published here.
